This is just the beginning of our quest to raise funds to provide 500 iPads for 500 kids. I know it seems like a lofty goal, and we are only just now working on iPad #2, but I believe that, with faith, lofty goals are the only kind of goals to have. If it is too easy, there is no real satisfaction in that, and no real faith required. I have seen much bigger things happen, created out of nothing.
We have created a Twitter page, a Facebook page, a blog, and are working on it each day. Elijah and I know from personal experience how hard it is for Aspergers children to get what they need in school. Once we finished raising the money for his iPad, we decided to keep going. And after we get the 500 iPads, who knows maybe we will continue, of help get other equipment.
More and more Autistic children are being diagnosed every day. I do not know if some were affected by vaccines, or if it is genetic, or damage that occurred during pregnancy, or whatever the latest theory is. What I believe is that many people were Autistic, especially high functioning, and no one noticed, they looked past them. But either way, they are here now, and they need the playing field leveled. With that level playing field, many of these children will thrive.
One way to help these kids is to use the latest technologies to their advantage. We want to do just that. The latest and greatest technologies…..that is what can do the most good. I am a “techno-geek” and I know what it can do.
I am hoping people who are unable to help financially, will just help us get the word out by retweeting, or link to the blog, anything to spread the word. I believe social media is the way to do this.
